"On 30 September 1647, when he was middle aged, he married Francoise Goudeau, daughter of Francois and of Jeanne Jehan from Roche-Guyon in Normandy. Francoise's mother was married for a second time in France to Jacques Lehoux and they came to Canada together. Francoise was only thirteen years old when she married Mathurin while he was forty-one. The wedding took place in the home of Mathurin at Chateau Richer. Jacques Lehoux signed as witness to the marriage. They had sixteen children, but only nine lived to marry - five boys and four girls."
