1812 - World History - The War of 1812 - 'The War of 1812 is one of the forgotten wars of the United States. The war lasted for over two years, and while it ended much like it started; in stalemate; it was in fact a war that once and for all confirmed American Independence. The offensive actions of the United States failed in every attempt to capture Canada. On the other hand, the British army was successfully stopped when it attempted to capture Baltimore and New Orleans. There were a number of American naval victories in which American vessels proved themselves superior to similarly sized British vessels. These victories coming after victories in the Quasi War (an even more forgotten war) launched American naval traditions.' (historycentral.com)

Deaths of David Mosher and Mary Mosher Research conducted in 2008 by Virginia Humphrey, retired librarian, Ballston Spa, Saratoga, New York
"David had died previously (about 1797), had left no will, and
his estate had not been probated while Mary was alive. She died 'about' May 31, 1813. Their son, Benjamin Mosher, of Saratoga, requested to be the administrator. He stated that all of his brothers and sisters were residing in the county (Saratoga), 'Elizabeth excepted,' that all agreed to
let him administer the estate, and that 'the husband after said Elizabeth' whom he had 'seen and consulted' also wanted him to administer the estate. Nowhere does it name her husband or where they are living. It does not name the siblings. A bond was issued and was signed by Benjamin Mosher of Saratoga, David Fish of Greenfield, and Commins Salisbury of Milton. The inventory of Mary's belongings
was done by Benjamin in the presence of George Mosher and
Richard Fish, who acted as appraisers, March 29, 1814."

My note: Benjamin Mosher, David Fish and Cummings Salisbury live near each other in Greenfield, Saratoga, NY in the 1820 US Census. Cummings Salisbury is age 45+ and lives alone. David Fish also appears to be age 45+, but has a large family. Richard Fish also lives in Greenfield, Saratoga, NY in 1820. He appears to be age 26-45. None of them are in Greenfield in the 1830 US Census.

My name is Agnes Salisbury. you may email me aggiethankful@aol.com if you would like to communicate. My Great Grandfather's name was Benjamin Salisbury, he is buried in Salisbury Cove Maine. My Grandfather's name was Everett Sylvester Salisbury, and he came from Maine, had a sister named Tillie, one named Agnes, that is all I know. He sailed around the world on a saling ship and laned on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and never went back to Maine. I would love to know more, and someday I will travel there and learn more. I have not found anything online so far. Thank you,
Agnes Salisbury (Aggie)
