She was born about 1662, probably at Sillery. Her grandfather Nicolas Pinel, a Normand, died of gunshot wounds in September 1655, after ten years of living in Acadia and New France. The father of the bride had been baptized at La Rochelle on 28 February 1635." "The missionary Germain Morin joined Francois and Marie-Madeleine in bonds of matrimony at Neuville, on Tuesday, 19 March 1680, the feast day of Saint Joseph. Two particular witnesses left their names associated with Vandal history: Nicolas Sylvestre dit Champagne, and Jean Prou, husband of Catherine Pinel." Thomas J.
