Berkshire Eagle, The (Pittsfield, MA) - February 16, 2002 Deceased Name: Henry L. Rieke Jr., 60, Vietnam War veteran LEE -- Henry L. Rieke Jr., 60, of 151 West Park St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Hartford, Conn., on Nov. 26, 1941, son of Henry L. Rieke Sr. and Mary Spaniol Rieke, he moved to Pittsfield as a child and was a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the Army in 1961 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1973 with the rank of staff sergeant. After his military service, Mr. Rieke was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier in Lee and Sheffield, retiring in 1994. He leaves his wife, the former Cheryl A. Rhinehart, whom he married Aug. 16, 1962; three sons, Henry L. Rieke III, Michael A. Rieke and Neil E. Rieke, all of Lee; two daughters, Jennifer L. Rieke and Mary Jo E. Rieke, both of Lee; two sisters,Barbara J. Ricalzone and Deborah A. Carderella, both of Pittsfield, and a grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mr. Henry L. Rieke Jr. also leaves his grandson, Matthew Driscoll, and two nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Louis A. Carderella. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 2 to 5. In lieu of flower, friends wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice. |
