"On 1 December 1662, our ancestor had his will recorded, 'being in bed sick in body but nevertheless sane in spirit and judgment.' Shortly thereafter death took its toll. In November 1663, two documents certified that Christophe had indeed died. Jeanne Enard lived several more years. She kept active by dealing in the fur trade and, in conjunction with her sons and sons-in-law, in the less honorable business of eau-de-vie... On 17 April 1674, an act by notary Ameau reveals that Jeanne Enard was still living... In the census of 1681, Jeanne Enard, age 62, lived in the region of Montreal, probably at the home of her daughter Marguerite, widow of the surgeon Michel Gamelin dit Lafontaine. Mentioned with her are her grandchildren Marguerite and Jean Gamelin. After this, the last general census of the seventeenth century, Jeanne Enard seems to have fallen into oblivion." Thomas J. Jeanne Enard - Marriage(s) and Child(ren)
Jeanne Enard married
"Christophe, was baptized at Saint-Cande-le-Jeune, Rouen, France, on 17 February 1611. He grew up in Rouen, where he met and married Jeanne Lenard or Enard. He was twenty-two and his bride was fourteen. They spent a few years at La Rochelle before embarking, at the latest in 1639, for New France. They arrived as a family of three, daughter Jeanne having been born in France about 1636, and settled in at Trois-Rivieres where Christophe worked as a baker, but probably earned more as a fur trader." Thomas J. Laforest Our French-Canadian Ancestors : Volume VII, Page 37 "Sometime between 1642 and 1645 the family returned to France. We do not know exactly why, but our ancestor probably made that decision once his commitment contract was ended. Their first stay in Canada must have been for at least four years because they had four sons during this period: Antoine, Francois, Nicolas and Jean. They lived at La Rochelle where Christophe worked as a merchant and wife Jeanne continued to have children. Daughter Marguerite was born in 1645 and Jerome, Joseph, Marie and Jean-Baptiste followed at about yearly intervals... However, on 1 November 1650, we find our ancestor back in Canada..." Thomas J.
